My ledger drawings and ongoing interest in paper dolls inspired the construction of the santo cage dolls. I have taken the liberty to elevate my animals and clowns to santo status as they play important roles in holding up mirrors to human behavior.

Below, this installation is called ” Need to Give a Damn: She Lived, She Inspired ” selected for the Arizona Biennial 2020 and now in permanent collection of the Tucson Museum of Art.

This work is dedicated to Missing Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls to assist with awareness of the crisis. Fabricated red ribbon dresses represent mother, on wooden frame, accompanied by three freestanding daughters. Tabs on the dresses indicate paper dolls, dolls that after being played with are thrown away. Four medicine shields represent hope.
